THE AREA
La Petite Borie is the perfect base from which to visit some of
the most spectacular locations in the Dordogne valley, just 3km
from the most famous bastide towns of the area, Domme, which has
breathtaking panoramic views over the Dordogne valley, you are
close enough to visit with ease and far enough away to be
undisturbed by the visitors in the summer. It is also just a
short drive from Sarlat, an architectural masterpiece of a town
with gabled roofs and mullioned windows, it possesses the
highest concentration of medieval, Renaissance and 17th century
facades in France, the town is also famous for wonderful markets
selling all kinds of local specialities. It is an absolute
treat.
For the more energetic, it is a lovely walk to the delightful
riverside towns of La Roque-Gageac, pressed into the cliffs that
tower above it; it was once an inland port. Its beautiful houses
of mellow stone reflect in the tranquil river; from here you can
take a boat trip on a traditional gabare or rent a canoe.
As if all this was not enough, close by
are many castles and chateaux well worth a
visit. You will be spoiled for choice! Just 2 minutes walk from

and take a picnic. The cottage is close to all the amenities of
the village.
